Red Sea Global (RSG) has announced the launch of Laheq Island—marking the next phase of expansion at The Red Sea
Unveiled on 15 April 2025 in Riyadh, Laheq is the first destination within the masterplan designed primarily for luxury resort-style living and private property ownership, complementing the project’s existing hospitality focus. Spanning 400 hectares, Laheq is a verdant sanctuary of white sand beaches, turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs, nestled within one of the world’s most biodiverse marine environments.
Scheduled to open in 2028, the island will feature exclusive residences, two luxury resorts, and a robust offering of lifestyle amenities that cater to both residents and discerning guests. Anchored by Foster + Partners’ innovative “Forever Garden” design concept, Laheq is set around a striking 800-metre circular structure, “The Ring”, which will house high-end apartments, retail outlets, and leisure spaces around a central lagoon.
The development brings new residential opportunities to market under RSG’s Red Sea Residences brand. Villas and apartments reflect a deep connection to the island’s natural elements, utilising locally inspired materials, open-air courtyards and expansive terraces. A full suite of amenities, including an 18-hole golf course, marina, racket club, watersports schools and curated dining experiences, underscores Laheq’s ambition to become a fully integrated lifestyle destination.
RSG’s regenerative tourism commitment underpins the entire project. Like the broader Red Sea destination, Laheq will run on 100% renewable energy and contribute to RSG’s wider environmental goals, which include planting 50 million mangroves and restoring coral habitats across the Red Sea coast.
With five hotels already open at The Red Sea and Red Sea International Airport now handling regular flights, Laheq represents the first major reveal beyond Phase One of development. By 2030, the masterplan will include 50 resorts, 8,000 hotel keys, and more than 1,000 private residences across a mix of island and inland sites.
