For the second consecutive year, Cairo Food Week will bring together global tastemakers and food enthusiasts to celebrate the rich history and culture of the Egyptian Table from May 9th to 16th.

The week-long event features over 40 culinary events, talks, exhibitions, screenings, and activities across Cairo’s prominent lifestyle districts and cultural venues. Led by 20 of the world’s most renowned chefs alongside emerging talents from Egypt and the wider MENA Region, participants will engage in cultural exploration, connecting and collaborating with Cairo’s leading talents in the hospitality industry.

Cairo Food Week 2024

Renowned visiting chefs include Ana Roš (Hiša Franko), Virgilio Martinez (Central), José Avillez (Belcanto), Alvaro Clavijo (El Chato), Jessica Rosval (Al Gatto Verde), Mohamad Orfali (Orfali Bros. Bistro), Gregoire Berger (Ossiano), and Himanshu Saini (Trèsind Studio). Representing Egyptian culinary excellence are chefs Mostafa Seif (Khufu’s), Martin Rodriguez (Izakaya), Mirette Aly (The Lemon Tree), and esteemed restaurateurs from Baky Hospitality, Pier88 Group, and Sanctum Hospitality. The event will also feature Chef Massimo Bottura’s Francescana family, along with stories from chefs Jessica Rosval, Karime Lopez, Takahiko Kondo, and Riccardo Forapani of Ferrari’s Cavallino Maranello.

Beyond intimate dining gatherings, Cairo Food Week serves as a platform for culinary creativity and cultural exchange, focusing on themes such as protecting culinary ecosystems, celebrating Arab heritage through food, and integrating international techniques with local ingredients. Highlight events include a panel discussion and exhibition with Chef Virgilio Martinez at the Grand Egyptian Museum on May 10th, emphasizing the importance of documenting and preserving culture through art and gastronomy.

On May 11th, Downtown Cairo hosts the ‘When We Eat Downtown Market’ in partnership with Al Ismaelia for Real Estate and Investment, featuring street food walks, film screenings, and talks, showcasing trends and initiatives shaping the future of gastronomy.
