Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar appoints Henrico Johan Grobbelaar as Executive Chef

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort has welcomed Henrico Johan Grobbelaar as Executive Chef

Henrico Johan Grobbelaar, a graduate of the South African Chefs Academy with a Higher Diploma in Culinary Arts and Pastry and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cape Town, is a decorated chef with global recognition. By 30, he had earned titles including San Pellegrino International Young Chef of the World and Sunday Times Chef of the Year, led VIP hospitality at the World Economic Forum and the 2010 FIFA World Cup, won the FIFA Hospitality Excellence Award, and collected seven Culinary Olympic medals as captain of the South African National Team.

He has headed South Africa’s top restaurants, including The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, Cavalli Estate, Marriott Cape Town Crystal Towers, NH The Lord Charles, and One&Only Cape Town, and most recently served as Executive Chef at Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas.

At Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Henrico will lead all signature dining venues, private experiences, and destination events, drawing inspiration from the mountain’s altitude, climate, and fertile terraces. He’s also excited to bring Omani culture to the table through the Olive Harvest Festival, creating authentic, immersive dining experiences for guests.

“I’m looking forward to working with ingredients straight from the garden, experiencing the natural rhythm of the seasons and seeing the roses bloom in March,” Chef Henrico explains. “There is something deeply meaningful about creating dishes that reflect the land and spirit of this remarkable place, and I eagerly await sharing each new creation with our guests.”
